One of my favorite milk teas is Old Town White milk tea. I always have it before I board a flight out of Kuala Lumpur. You can get a box for only Myr12.50 at the shop before you board the plane.

Tai Hing Milk Tea

Most milk tea shops serve milk tea with lots of ice in it. Tai Hing resto, a Hongkong cuisine resto at Changi Airport Terminal 2 serves their milk tea pure (no ice!). It's one of the richest milk tea I've had.

Mad Hatter Milk Tea

As if straight out of the Alice in Wonderland storybook comes a milk tea place named after the character who obsessed about his tea -- The Mad Hatter. The stacks of books, mushrooms, wall murals and ceiling clocks looked all too pleasantly familiar. It was like being a kid again! Mad Hatter has a nice selection of iced milk teas that can quench a daily tea craving.

I prefer the no-frills Caterpillar's Classic Milk Tea with Tapioca Balls. It's a little pricier than usual at P70 for the tea without any sinkers. I'd have to pay another P10 for the tapioca. But once you get your cup, no sorry, TUMBLER, you know you got what you paid for. Their milk tea is very light, similar to 360, but tastes slightly creamy. Their tapioca is perfectly chewy, making it a nice complement to the tea experience. Other drinks I recommend are the Wintermelon and Dark Chocolate Milk Tea. Their crepe selections look tempting as well, so yeah, try them too! Mad Hatter is located at the cinema area of Abreeza Mall, Davao City.

360 Hand Shaken Tea

360 Hand Shaken Tea opened its first branch in Yahu! Plaza located in Davao City's Chinatown. I found out about it through a friend, whose friend at work bought him a cup of their milk tea. I was pretty content with whipping up my own milk tea at home with my stash of Old Town and Gold Kili, but nothing beats a fresh cup of milk tea.

360's store is located right at the back of the mall. At that time they priced each cup at just 30 pesos, yes, that's less than $1! Naturally, I was a skeptic! I ordered the plainest milk tea available. The best way to gauge milk tea is to taste it in its barest form - no flavoring and minimal sugar. I got the Pearls Milk Red Tea, less sugar. My verdict? I was pleasantly surprised! The tea mixture was smooth and wasn't too bitter (although I don't mind bitter). The pearls were also perfectly chewy. For P30, this was a good deal! From then on, I was a regular at their store, and soon they opened another branch on Malvar Street in front of Davao Doctor's College. The pictures on this post were taken at that branch.

360 now has four branches, including new ones at SM Davao and NCCC Mall in Matina. Sadly, they had to jack up their prices to P42/cup. It's still dirt cheap if you ask me, and I remain a loyal customer.

Gong Cha

I think Drew and I have been so busy drinking milk tea we both have not been able to blog! I have quite a number of posts though which I should be able to work on while I'm billeted in Singapore.

Since I'm in a milk tea country I thought I'd try out the different milk tea stations in my vicinity. My pick this week was Gong Cha which I found nicely situated where I get off the bus on Somerset Road. It's just beside the 7-Eleven on Somerset 313 mall. 

I decided to order a standard milk tea with pearls (80% sugar). I was hoping that it won't have a silly taste so I could always go back for more. I must say that I absolutely loved it because the tea and milk were perfectly blended. It wasn't bitter, it didn't taste like milk, it was just perfect. (I seriously should read more about writing about tea so I can relate better how much my experience went.)

Anyway, this tea is made of awesome. I wish though I knew what's written on it and what "already famous" means.

Milk Tea Station

People who live in the Northern part of Metro Manila are so lucky because a lot of milk tea places are located there. I told myself that I'd check out the milk tea place at Imperial Palace Suites which I spotted on the way to a meeting. I finally got the chance to check it out when I arrived in the area 30 minutes before my appointment.

I probably had a silly smile on my face when I entered the shop. After ordering I immediately whipped out my phone and asked permission from the crew if I could take some photos for my blog. They, of course, obliged when I said I had a tea blog. I probably weirded them out though since I also took a photo of the cup when they served it hehehe.

Anyway, so I just ordered for a standard glass of milk tea with pearls. It did not disappoint and I'm pretty sure I'll drop by again when I visit QC.

Gold Roast Teh Tarik

I'm such a milk tea addict, I asked my Mom to get me some in Jakarta I can sample. It was my sister-in-law who took up my request and she's so far brought home two different brands for me.

The latest pasalubong she brought me is Gold Roast Teh Tarik.

I had just finished the second pack of my now-favorite instant milk tea (which I haven't even blogged about yet!), but I instantly fell in love with Gold Roast Teh Tarik. I just tried it on Easter Sunday and I think I'm already half-way through the pack. Oh noes!

Anyway, what I try to do is compare the taste of the instant milk tea to the bus terminal in Singapore teh tarik which Drew and I really liked. And so far Gold Roast Teh Tarik is the closest to it! It's just right because it isn't too sweet, the tea isn't bitter and it doesn't have a citrus after-taste.

I hope I can find some here locally.
